Hometown Heroes Street Banner Program
 
Honoring Our Community’s Heroes
 
The Munster Chamber of Commerce is proud to introduce the Hometown Heroes Street Banner Program, a special initiative to honor the brave men and women who have served or are currently serving our country and community. This program provides families, friends, and organizations with the opportunity to recognize their hero with a personalized street banner proudly displayed in Munster.
 
Program Details
-Banner Display: Banners will be placed on light poles along Ridge Road and Calumet Avenue in Munster.
-Duration: April through October 2026.
-Eligibility: Honorees may include men and women who are active-duty service members, veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces, or local first responders (police, fire, EMS). Honorees do not need to be Munster Residents.
 
-Banner Cost (includes banner design, production, installation, and removal):
   • $275 for one banner
   • $500 for two banners
   • $725 for three banners
 $100 from each banner will be donated to a local service organization (choose from: VFW-Munster, American Legion-Munster, Munster FOP, or Munster Firefighters Association).
 
Recognition
Each banner will feature:
-The hero’s name
-Photograph (in uniform if available)
-Branch of service or department affiliation
-Sponsor acknowledgment (optional)
 
Application Process
1. Complete Application Form: Provide honoree’s details, photo, and service information.
2. Select Donation Recipient: Indicate which organization will receive the $100 donation.
3. Payment: Submit the program fee with your application.
4. Deadline: Applications must be received by February 28, 2026.
 
Community Impact
This program not only honors the courage and sacrifice of our Hometown Heroes but also supports local veteran and first responder organizations, reinforcing our town’s commitment to community pride and remembrance.
